Flooring & LVP

Which is better for a high-moisture kitchen or bathroom — LVP or tile?

Tile is the best option for wet areas — it's fully water resistant and unfazed by standing water. LVP is rated for bathrooms, but prolonged standing water can seep into the seams and damage the subfloor.

What is the average cost per square foot to install LVP versus tile?

Installed, LVP typically runs $3–$10 per square foot. Tile runs $5–$40 per square foot, depending heavily on installation complexity and subfloor prep — every floor is different, which is why we quote after measuring.

Can luxury vinyl plank be installed over an old tile floor without demolition?

Yes — if the existing surface is flat and level, LVP can go directly over old tile with no tear-out.

How long do luxury vinyl plank and tile floors last?

LVP lasts 10 to 25 years depending on the thickness of the protective wear layer. Tile lasts 20 to 50+ years with proper maintenance, though grout lines may need periodic cleaning or resealing.

What flooring is best if I have pets?

Usually luxury vinyl plank — it handles scratches and accidents better than most alternatives. Bring it up when we measure and we'll talk through the trade-offs.

What flooring works best for rentals?

Most rentals do best with LVP or sheet vinyl for easy cleanup and fast turnarounds. We'll match the pick to traffic and budget.

Do you handle demo, haul-off and subfloor prep?

Yes. Removal and disposal of the old flooring, plus flattening, repairs and moisture checks, are part of the scope we quote — that's what decides whether the new floor still looks flat in three years.

How long does a flooring install take?

It depends on scope, square footage and how much prep the subfloor needs. We confirm the schedule after measuring.

Tile & showers

How much does a tile shower cost?

A ballpark for finishing out a shower ranges from $5,000 to $10,000, depending on size and materials. We confirm a firm number after measuring and scoping the job.

Can you install ceramic tile in pier-and-beam homes?

Yes. Some builders shy away from it because of foundation movement, but with an uncoupling membrane and extra subfloor material the assembly absorbs the natural shifting and deflection of the wood framing. Pier-and-beam is common in older Central Texas homes, and we install over it regularly.

Is polished or matte tile easier to clean?

Both are easy to clean, but polished tile needs more day-to-day wiping — it shows soap scum, fingerprints and water spots more readily than matte.

Can you use natural stone as a kitchen backsplash?

Yes. We do recommend sealing it to help protect against food and grease stains.

Can you use floor tile on walls?

Yes. We recommend a matte finish on floors, and either polished or matte finish on walls.

How long does a tile shower take?

The timeline depends on size, tile choice, and details like niches, benches or patterns. After measurements and scope, we'll give you a clear schedule.

Do you install shower niches, benches and accent walls?

Yes. We commonly install niches, benches, accent bands and feature tile as part of shower builds and other tile projects.

What affects pricing for tile work?

Pricing varies by size, material, layout complexity, surface prep, waterproofing needs for showers, and finish details. We quote after confirming scope and measurements.

Countertops

What countertop materials do you carry?

We carry quartz and granite countertops in a range of colors and finishes. Visit our Smithville showroom to compare actual slabs and edge profiles before you commit.

How long does countertop installation take?

A typical kitchen countertop installation takes one to two days once the material is in. Lead times on the slab itself vary by product — we'll give you a clear timeline at quote.

Do you do sink cutouts and edge profiles?

Yes. We handle sink cutouts, faucet holes and a variety of edge profiles as part of the countertop installation.

Showroom & choosing

Do you help with selection in the showroom?

Yes. Bring a photo, paint color, cabinet finish or sample and we'll narrow options by durability, upkeep and budget.

LVP vs tile — which is easier to maintain?

Both are low maintenance when installed right. LVP is warmer and softer underfoot, and tile is a great fit for wet areas and heat.

Can you help match flooring, tile and countertops?

Yes. We coordinate finishes so the space looks intentional rather than assembled.

How does the process usually work?

We start with the room and your goals, then measure and confirm materials, schedule the install, and finish with a walkthrough.

What areas do you serve?

Smithville and nearby towns including Bastrop, La Grange, Cedar Creek and Rosanky.

Commercial

Can you handle high-traffic commercial flooring installations?

Yes. We help select and install flooring rated for commercial traffic levels — we'll match the product to the space's use, subfloor condition and expected wear.

Do you work with builders and general contractors?

Yes. We work directly with builders, GCs and property managers on commercial projects.

What types of flooring do you install for commercial spaces?

We install LVP, vinyl plank, carpet tile, sheet vinyl and other commercial-grade flooring suited for offices, retail spaces, rental properties and light commercial build-outs.
